shed

What about a 12'x9' shed where town residents can drop off mercury & lead-containing items? Its bigger than a container and smaller than a center. If I tag it with recycling_type=building it gets flagged as an error by Osmose. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rassilon (talkcontribs) 16:33, 14 August 2019‎

I suggest you contact the tagging mailing list or pose your question at https://help.osm.org. --Tigerfell This user is member of the wiki team of OSM (Let's talk) 19:22, 14 August 2019 (UTC)

bin

Should we add bin to the list of recycle_type possible values? Taginfo has currently 38 uses of this value. See example here:

Pmd trash bin.png

Or would that also fit under "container"? --S8evq (talk) 08:46, 11 February 2020 (UTC)

An important use case of this tag is that anyone creating a map of recycling bins needs to be able to exclude recyling centres. With that in mind it's going to be more useful if people stick to the two broad categorising values.
Of course people won't stick to them. They'll be all sorts of other values in taginfo, but actually I think the taginfo stats show that mappers have stuck to those two values pretty well (Showing less than 1% other values). So I'd recommend adding a third tag to sub-categorise. container=bin perhaps?

Private recycling points

Can access=private be used together with Key:recycling_type? My reasoning being; the private recycling points (those of apartment buildings) are often quite prominent and can be used for navigation in the local area. But they are not intended to be used by any other than the residents of the nearby buildings. --Christoffre (talk) 13:11, 11 May 2024 (UTC)
